Rhodes Night Guide

Rhodes nightlife guide

Sunset drinks by the water, cocktail bars in the Old Town, and the streets that stay awake until morning — how a night in Rhodes actually unfolds.

Nightlife in Rhodes is not one scene but three, and they run on different clocks. The New Marina waterfront starts at golden hour with dinner, cocktails and shisha. The Old Town takes over around midnight with small music and cocktail bars inside the medieval walls. Orfanidou Street — everyone calls it Bar Street — is the loud finish, and it doesn't really begin until most visitors have already eaten. Here's how to plan a night that flows instead of one that stalls.

The three sides of a Rhodes night

New Marina — 19:00 to 01:00

Waterfront lounges and resto-bars facing the boats. Dinner turns into cocktails without moving tables. The most relaxed, best-looking part of the night, and the easiest with a group or a date.

Old Town — 22:00 to 03:00

Cobbled lanes, small bars, live music and rooftops inside the walls. Atmospheric and walkable, but tables are tiny and the good ones go early.

Bar Street — 00:00 to sunrise

Orfanidou Street, packed with clubs and shot bars. Loud, young and cheap. Perfect as a last stop, exhausting as a first one.

Al Hayat Resto Bar — the marina opening act

A good night in Rhodes needs a slow start, and the marina is where you get one. At Al Hayat, dinner runs straight into the lounge hours: the lights drop, the music moves from Mediterranean to deep house, and the same table carries you from plates to cocktails to shisha. From here you're a short walk or a €5 taxi from the Old Town if you want to keep going.

  • Golden hourarrive around 20:00 for the last of the light on the water.
  • Signature soursthe London Sour and Orchid Sour are the two most-ordered cocktails.
  • Shisha terracepremium flavours served late, with table service all evening.

How to plan the night

Eat late, but book early

Greek dining habits push dinner to 21:00 or later in summer, which means the best waterfront tables are reserved days ahead in July and August. Book the table, then let the evening drift.

Walk between the marina and the Old Town

It's roughly a fifteen-minute walk along the harbour from the New Marina to Mandraki and the Old Town gates — one of the best walks on the island at night, and it saves the taxi queue.

Dress code is smart-casual, not formal

Marina lounges expect a shirt or a dress; nobody wears a jacket. Bar Street has no dress code at all. Comfortable shoes matter more than anything else on the cobbles.

Budget: €10–€14 a cocktail

Signature cocktails at marina lounges sit in that band, Old Town bars run slightly lower, and Bar Street is cheapest by a distance. Shisha typically adds €15–€20 per table.

Rhodes nightlife: quick answers

What time does nightlife start in Rhodes?

Dinner runs late in summer, so bars fill from about 22:00 and clubs only get busy after 01:00. Marina lounges like Al Hayat are lively from sunset onwards, which makes them the natural first stop of the night.

Where is the main nightlife area in Rhodes?

Orfanidou Street (Bar Street) in Rhodes Town is the loud, late option. The Old Town has smaller cocktail and music bars, and the New Marina waterfront is the relaxed, upscale side with sea-facing lounges.

Is Rhodes nightlife good outside July and August?

Yes, though it shifts. In May, June, September and October the marina and Old Town bars stay open while the big clubs quieten down — better for cocktails, terraces and shisha than for dancing until sunrise.

Begin the night by the water

Terrace tables fill fast in summer. Reserve ahead and let dinner turn into the lounge on its own.
